Vagamon Voyage: Discovering the Beauty of Vagamon Hill Station, Kerala, India
On the 9 th of January 2024, we are a group of 12 friends set off together on a thrilling journey to Vagamon, Kottayam, Kerala, from Ernakulam, Cochin. We rented a Tempo Traveller from Keralataxi.com in Cochin and started our trip early in the morning to explore tourist attractions before checking in at our reserved resort in Vagamon.
We travelled from Ernakulam to Vagamon via Tripunithura, Kaduthuruthi, Pala, and Erattupetta, and found that the roads were in excellent condition. Our breakfast was enjoyed at a vegetarian restaurant in Palai. The scenic drive through winding roads and lush greenery added to the excitement of our journey and instantly captivated our hearts. We were pausing at various lookout points to take in the breathtaking views of the mountain ranges from Theekoy, Kerala,where the hills begin.
By 11.30 am, we had reached Vagamon, Kerala, and made our way to explore the famous Pine Forest. We were eager to embrace the stunning vistas that awaited us. We spent around an hour and half at the location and enjoyed the lunch at a restaurant nearby. After lunch, we arrived at the stunning Winter Vale Resort, located in the picturesque town
of Vagamon, Kerala. The resort nestled amidst lush greenery and tranquil surroundings, welcomed us with open arms. Upon checking in, we were greeted by friendly staff and they efficiently handled the process and provided information about the various amenities available. As our day unfolded at Winter Vale Resort, refreshing swim in the crystal clear pool with beautiful scenery surrounding added to overall experience became one of its most cherished highlights for all of us. At approximately 4.00 pm, we headed to Mottakkunnu, the Vagamon meadows, which is a one-of-a-kind tourist attraction in Kerala. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this tranquil destination is known for its rolling hills, glistening meadows, and serene valleys. The meadows are adorned with vibrant wildflowers which create a captivating visual treat for visitors and they can also indulge in adventure sports like paragliding and trekking while taking in breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Beneath these meadows, there are various water-based activities available. Those exploring Vagamon make it a point not to miss out on the opportunity to visit these beautiful meadows. Visitors to Vagamon can enjoy the well-prepared rope way, which offers a delightful evening experience in the area. This popular spot is not to be missed by those taking day trips to Vagamon.
Following our visit to the meadows, we dined at a famous Thattukada in Vagamon Town and savoured the Non Vegetarian cuisine. On the next day, following breakfast, our group ventured to the Thangal Para region of Vagamon, a sacred place which holds religious significance for Muslims. The site features a small shrine dedicated to Sufi saint Sheikh Fariduddin Baba. Devotees often visit this shrine to seek blessings and offer prayers. The main attraction of Thangal para is the picturesque viewpoint that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Thangal Para offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, spirituality, adventure, and relaxation that appeal to tourists seeking an offbeat yet enriching travel experience.
Following our visit to Thangal Para, we headed to Vagamon Town for lunch. After our meal, we set off for Ernakulam and arrived at around 7.00 pm. The trip marked a special chapter in our collective adventures, leaving us all longing for more such escapades in the future.
